Welcome

The Blue School Council is a revolutionary new type of School Council. Instead of having a small team of elected leaders with nothing getting done, our school council is self-elected, with the only members who are elected being the year representatives - the connection between the council and everyone else. As you can see, there are over 20 teams, each one with a facilitator and a specific aim, for example, the Energy Team aims to reduce energy consumption in our school and, building by building, make our school completely Carbon Neutral.

With over 250 members, the council should be falling apart, but instead it is still working like clockwork. Each time a team meets, usually once a week, we write an agenda, keep minutes and plan in the meetings, and (mostly) come back the next week with the results of our plans!

Of our many achievements, we have now got 2 poly tunnels, 1 greenhouse, several raised beds, 3 re-decorated toilets, "healthy school" status, "dyslexia-friendly" status, new bike sheds, a new school building for a Ghanaian school (named "The Blue School" after us!), some productive hens and much, much more.

For more information on how we run our council, see the Learning to Lead website or for more information about the individual teams, click on their link.
